Three Fish

These smoked herrings are ready for a good beer, they are separated from their natural area of living, from sea waters by a newspaper. The newspaper is a source of information, the information is a human product, made for consumption and a symbol of civilization, so this is a metaphor of the evolution chain beginning from the ocean life to its present state with the humans that consume information as they used to eat the other spices living around. I used a real newspaper and texture paste on canvas as base for oil painting. This technique is interesting for me as a mean to combine distorted surface light effects and collage with oil painting.
