The forrest is on Enderby Island in the New Zealand Sub-Antarctic group. These trees (Rata) are only found in New Zealand and her subantarctic island. Enderby is cold and remote and memories of being here are held differently, in an inner place where the door opens to a quieter sort of hissing vacuum, where things move more slowly and are intensely felt.
What I like about putting the shark in, where he wouldn’t normally be, is the out of body feeling it gives. For me, he is a noiseless presence, not frightening but not without a potential danger.
I am concerned about the entitlement that humanity seems to feel about where we go and what we do. This is where the title comes from.
