From Serie: ÑATITAS Retratos Inertes
Portraits of human skulls, each one individually decorated with flowers, sunglasses, cigars and hats are called with the popular name of "ÑATITAS" (flat noses) in Bolivia, but each one has its own name. A series of rectangular Black & white photographs taken on site and as they are decorated by people who come to ask for favors and offer prayers. Portrayed in the General Cemetery of La Paz on November 8, 2012.
This series of photographs reveals the rite that is part of the traditions or cults of death in the Aymara culture in Bolivia. Death is understood as part of their culture and the skull is a fundamental part of a religious practice and not an icon.
