"Passing Away"

I got the idea to do a painting of someone at that moment, realizes that they are passing away. In this painting, the young man is asleep but eventually dies in his sleep. The surprise, anxiousness, panic and I'm sure a host of emotions must go through one's mind if they are conscious or aware of their passing. Alot of theories out there stating that once we die, we simply return to the earth, ashes to ashes and so on. I've never believed that theory. I think our soul stays "conscious" while we transition to heaven or the next level. That's just me. I tried to capture the shock of it happening in the man's face. Hopefully, I succeeded.
