"Dirty Dorian" October 16, 2023
- A Narcissus From The Dead -
Evil influence as delightful theories
A subtle poison penetrating deep within
Degraded over the years yet remained splendid
A wish I made came true keeps up appearances
Beauty is my power and youth what I treasure
Holy sensory pleasures, New Hedonism
A haunting book nurtured me with sinful passions
Jubilant as my portrait bears my own burden
The secret of my heart, the mirror of my soul
A glamorous story of excess and horror
Obsessed with the fateful consequences to come
I fear there's nothing good in me left to save now
Perfume can't cover the putrid smell of my flesh
Music can't ease the cacophony in my head
Jewels can't distract attention from my bloody hands
Embroidery can't hide my loathsome decrepit shape
Inevitable and ferocious sin's payback
Bury me, a narcissus from the dead shall sprout
A nice place where I belong, worthy of my crimes
Left to the Damned to be torn to shreds in the dark.

About the Artwork :
With "Dirty Dorian", I wanted to dive into the deepest depths of human darkness by revisiting the myth of The Picture of Dorian Gray for my SINitiation series. As an artist, this drawing is a visceral exploration of decay and the destructive cult of appearance.
The mirror of decomposition: I built this face on a violent duality. Dorian retains his youthful, ephebe-like beauty with his blazing blonde hair sculpted into perfect curls and his royal blue jacket adorned with golden baroque embroidery. Yet at the same time, the veneer cracks: I sculpted his flesh into grayish, porous shreds, laying bare a bloody ghoul-like jaw. Between his teeth, he crushes a white Narcissus, a symbol of his own destructive self-love, stained with blood.
The suffocating embrace of sins: I didn't want a passive background. I made a horde of spectral arms and hands with sharp, black nails burst from the absolute darkness. They clutch, scratch, and caress him all at once. These are his vices, his secrets, his past all coming back to haunt and condemn him. His charred and clawed right hand, adorned with opulent rings with one engraved with a familiar face, materialize the demonic part that has definitively taken control of his destiny.
My technique at the service of horror: To make this scene hypnotic, I used my signature technique: thousands of fine line cross-hatches. They allowed me to give an almost tangible texture to the hair and the velvet of the jacket, but above all, to sculpt the repulsive relief of the necrotic flesh. By contrasting these morbid details with the vibrant saturation of blue and gold, I sought to make the horror strangely aesthetic and fascinating.
I wanted you to feel the thrill of this corrupted beauty and the price of eternal damnation.
