Simone Butturini was born in 1968 in Verona, where he took his degree at the Academy of Fine Arts “G.B. Cignaroli” in Verona, guided by the masters Giuliano Collina and Silvano Girardello. His first personal exhibition was in 1987; amongst the most important ones: Biennale di Venezia (1995); the exhibition within the celebrations for the hundred years in Villa Pisani di Strà (1995); Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery – Main Floor Gallery in Toronto (Canada, 1995); Museum Bargellini in Pieve di Cento, Ferrara, (2002); at Spazio BZF in Florence (2003) and at Palazzo della Gran Guardia in Verona (2007); foundation Luciana Matalon in Milan edited by Floriano de Santi (2008); double personal exhibition “Simone Butturini – Richard Hess” at Galerie der Moderne Max Kattner in Berlin (2009); Galleria il Narciso in Rome (2011); Galleria Arianna Sartori, Mantova (2013); Università Bocconi in Milan; Galleria Poma, Lago di Lugano, Svizzera (2014). He is the protagonist of the short film by Luca Caserta “La fabbrica della tela (The canvas forge)”, an amazing travel inside one of Butturini’s paintings through sounds and colors, officially presented 7th November 2014 in Sala Farinati in Biblioteca Civica a Verona. His paintings are shown in several national and private museums in Italy and abroad.
