Dimitris Kyrgiafinis, born in 1963, is a self-taught painter and lives in Polygyros, Chalkidiki (Greece). Painting has been his passion and the means to express himself for almost 30 years now. Constantly evolving and developing his personal style and themes throughout these years he has exhibited his artwork in 14 solo and numerous group exhibitions. His paintings are characterized by his unique sensitivity. Using his own codes, by which he depicts his inner self, so special and so common at the same time, he manages to communicate with diverse audience and seemingly motley. Lately he discovered glass as a different kind of “canvas”, a material on which he creates compositions with engraving and adding acrylic paints and acrylic effect pastes. The main characteristic of this material - and thus of his artwork - is the capacity to reflect light in various ways depending on the technique of engraving. This marvelous effect brings life to his paintings by changing the image according to the angle of the light and the perspective of the viewer. The result is astonishing. In fact, it is a constant surprise and a deeper realization of the idea that what we see and perceive depends ultimately on the perspective and the "quality" of the light in which we choose to see it.
