Biography. One of his great passion in life is art work, he seeks to document his art work to capture scenes and events and to share with others the beauty and diversity of the World. Johnstone Kimase was born and raised in small village, Kapkitony popularly known for producing world class athletes. He is currently based and working at Iten- Elgeiyo Marakwet county, famously known as home of champions He studied Diploma in fine art and graduated from the famous creative art centre Nairobi, Kenya His use of media include, charcoal pencil,watercolour and oil based paints.His artwork accorded him recognition after presenting the portraits of Kenya’s second president the late Daniel Arap Moi,former first lady Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta and key ministry officials of education among others. At school his major interest was the art of drawing ,he was supported by Julius Maiyo who spotted his artistic abilities and encouraged him to take a full time course at the art centre.His passion for artwork led Former Governor Eng. Alex Tolgos Elgeiyo Marakwet County acknowledged his artwork and appointed to serve the county of Elgeiyo Marakwet as a County Artist which turned out to be his eye-opener where art craft and music was given emphasis. His Achievements: 1999-Awarded a certificate in drawing and painting 2001-Awarded a diploma in fine Art 2007-Successfully handed over the portrait of the following; 1.Former Keiyo south M.P.The Late Nicholas Biwott 2.Former Keiyo South M.P Jackson Kiptanui 3.Former minister for education Prof.Sam Hongeri. 2013-Recommendation from ministry of education after successfully handing over the portraits of key ministry officials. 2014-The county Government of Elgeiyo Marakwet acknowledged his art work after successfully handed over the portrait of the first governor Eng. Alex Tolgos and Prof. Margaret Kamar. 2015-He successfully handed over the portrait of the second president Mzee Daniel Arap Moi, a portrait that depicted youthful Mzee Moi when he was at his staff house in Tambach when he was a teacher. 2016-Presented a portrait of the Former H.E First Lady Margret Kenyatta when she was preparing for London Marathon. 2021-Recognized by the Art worldwide platform with a certificate of authencity of his Art work entitled “ The home of Champions-Iten.” 2022-Participated in an Art Context sponsored by Kenya National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) entitled” let’s preach peace during the election period in Kenya ”and his art work was selected as the best and reimbursed Ksh 20,000. 2023-Special Invitation to submit his artwork to Xanadu Gallery, Arizona USA by Jason Horejs for comprehensive marketability and registration for Art business Academy.
