Born in Brussels in 1984, he lives and works in Brussels. Melens started to make artworks in 2008 by painting on canvas. As a result of many travels and human encounters, he likes to materialize his own view on ideas, thoughts and current concepts. His artistic demarche can be aesthetic, emotional or conceptual. Some works are colourful, whether abstract or figurative. When you look at those, they give you a feeling of happiness and joy. They do not need complex explanation or reflexion. They are accessible in their interpretation. Other works are more conceptual, they aim to covey an idea, The serie Free Your Mind is about thoughts. A long reflexion about a concept or idea is done before it is finally materialised. He hopes the observer will think about the piece of art, at the same level of enjoying it.
